360° BUSINESS REVIEW

So you’ve got a great business idea.  That could be as a start-up, or as a change to an existing business.  Or maybe you are wondering whether to continue an existing business.

You’ll need to persuade family, friends and colleagues.  Plus investors and indeed yourself that it’s worth investing money and your time.  How do you do that?

You will need a Financial Forecast for typically three to five years ahead, allowing key drivers to be flexed ‘what if’.  To do that you’ll need to think through how the business will work:

• Firstly to check the business looks like it would be viable
• Then to identify the drivers and further aspects needed for the Financial Forecast and, if required, key points for a written Business Plan and Investor Pitch

Investors will strongly challenge the plan, so worth discussing it with your ‘devil’s advocate’ first.  Won’t a fresh pair of eyes be great to validate the idea and strengthen it?  Thereby helping to persuade other people?

Do bear in mind many businesses fall well short of expectations or quickly come to grief.  Usually this is because the Foundations haven’t been covered adequately in the plans.  So well worth the review.
